The Story Behind the Fargo Patch
The Story Behind the Fargo Patch
The Begining
For many wrestling families, Fargo represents far more than a tournament.
It represents years of preparation, dedication, and belief. Qualifying for the USA Wrestling National Championships is an achievement earned through tremendous dedication from athletes, coaches, teammates, and families alike.
The First Patch
When our son qualified for Fargo, he wanted to earn a Fargo patch for his letterman’s jacket.
What stood out most to us as parents was how much the accomplishment meant to him.
That mattered to us.
Not because of the patch itself, but because it reflected something deeper: an appreciation for the work, discipline, and commitment required to reach that level of competition.
When we learned that one was not readily available, our family decided to create one together.
Behind every Fargo qualifier is a story of effort, commitment, and the community that helped make that journey possible. That is what we hoped the patch would reflect.
For our family, it became a meaningful way to honor the journey to Fargo.

Sharing the Patch
Because patches needed to be ordered in larger quantities, we began sharing extras with teammates and wrestling friends who had also qualified for Fargo.
At the time, we simply saw it as a way to honor athletes who had earned their way to Fargo.
Then something unexpected began happening.
Emails and messages started arriving from athletes, parents, and coaches asking whether they could get one as well. Some had seen teammates wearing them. Others had heard about them through conversations within the wrestling community itself.
That response meant a great deal to our family.
We began realizing the patch carried meaning for other wrestling families as well. For many athletes and families, Fargo was not simply another tournament. It was a meaningful milestone connected to years of preparation, commitment, and support from the communities surrounding them.
Over time, conversations within the wrestling community revealed something deeper.
Conversations with athletes, parents, and coaches often centered on the same things: the pride of qualifying, the work it took to get there, and the communities that helped make the journey possible.
Those conversations stayed with us.
